Main Aims/Objectives
Understand the structure, methodology, and main theoretical frameworks of criminological thinking
Specific Aims/Objectives
- Understand the development of Criminology from the 19th century to the present;
- Understand the main criminological theories and their relationship with criminological research;
- Know the process and main objects of investigation in Criminology;
- Understand the relationship between Criminology and the criminal justice system;
- Understand the main areas of intervention in Criminology.
Skills to be acquired
- Know the fundamental concepts and theories of Criminology from the 20th century to the present and its application to
the explanation of the criminal phenomenon;
- Identify the main characteristics of the methodological process in Criminology.
Teaching Procedures
Expository, interrogative, and demonstrative method, accompanied by the realization of practical assignments and exercises.

4. Fundamental Criminology and Applied Criminology
II - Method:
1. Measures of crime
2. Quantitative and qualitative methodology in Criminology
3. Data collection instruments and sources used in criminologic research
III - Theoretical systems of Criminology:
1. Etiological Criminology
2. The dynamic Criminology or the transition to the delinquent act
3. The Criminology of the act
4. Theories of social reaction
IV - Current topics in Criminology
Evaluation Type
Individual presentation of a critical reflection based on the documents indicated by the Professors
